A Study on Mediating Effects of Community Integration on Recovery of the Person with Psychiatric Disabilities

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of physical, social and psychological integration which are each aspect by establishing community integration as an important constituent to understand recovery of the person with psychiatric disabilities in the context of their life. To achieve the aim of the study, it conducted the literature review and empirical study. The survey of 28 nationwide mental health agencies and facilities were performed and a total of 522 questionnaires were used for analysis. The data were collected by using SPSS 17.0 and the AMOS 7.0 statistics program. The analysis methods were the descriptive statistic analysis and structural equation modeling. The results of the study are summarized as follows. As the result of structural equation modeling to analyze mediating effects about indirect effects of physical, social, and psychological integration that are individual aspects of community integration on the relations between recovery and independent variables, the three aspects were found to have medicating effects. Physical integration was shown to have medicating effects in the process from insight, self-esteem, symptom to recovery. Social integration had medicating effects in the process from symptom, family support, social support, stigma to recovery. Psychological integration was found to have medicating effects in the process from family support, social support, stigma to recovery. Based on the above results, it should be drawn recovery strategies of the person with psychiatric disabilities through community integration
